Daggerplay – “Cruel Wind Blowing”

/

Finnish rockers Daggerplay formed in Helsinki at the end of 2011. Since then, they have played over a hundred gigs, drawing praise for a sound that meshes alternative, punk, and pop. Their second album ubterranean Reality was released this past October, and features highlights like “Cruel Wind Blowing.” This particular track begins with blistering, distorted guitars, then emphasizing a punk-friendly percussive fervor that subsides in intensity a bit as the melodic vocals emerge. The “wherever I am going,” hook is soaring and melodic, transitioning nicely from the developmental verses. Fans of the band’s sound are recommended to dig into the whole album, streaming below via Spotify:

“Cruel Wind Blowing” and other memorable tracks from October can also be streamed on the updating Obscure Sound’s ‘Best of October 2018’ Spotify playlist.
