Michael Donaby – “Real Good Love”

/

“Real Good Love” will get your Friday off to a good mood. Soulful and entrancing, the track is a showcase in emotive soul power from Chicago-based singer/songwriter Michael Donaby, who has been impressing the local jazz/blues scene as a singer and keyboardist since 2004. Citing audible influences like Bobby Womack and Glen Jones, Donaby emits a sound with a timeless feeling. He possesses the type of smoky, emotive vocal presence that unfortunately isn’t so common in popular music today, complemented by melodic backing vocals that combine beautifully with the glistening key touches and lush rhythm section. “Real Good Love” is a stellar soul release, like The Style Council meets Bobby Womack.

“Real Good Love” and other memorable tracks from this month can also be streamed on the updating Obscure Sound’s ‘Best of March 2019’ Spotify playlist.

The track is also featured in the genre-based, best-of Spotify compilation Indie Funk and Soul.
