Bobby Chill and The Wave – “California USA”

/

Bobby Chill and the Wave aren’t exactly hiding their aesthetic here with the name of their band and recent track, “California USA.” Hazy, gliding guitar work is fit for a beach sunset, while the vocals exude a chilled-out persona that’s yearning for more relaxing currents. The Norman, OK-based act churns out music fit for beach days and the twilight days of summer. Co-founder Tate Slatton’s background in jazz and classical guitar started translating into a more beach-set sound when he and co-founder Matthew Smith began their collaborations a few years ago. After Smith moved to San Antonio, Slatton recruited members Brooks Idlet (guitar), Eli Brandom (bass), and Arion Alaniz (drums) into the band. Recently, the band released an EP, First Come, First Surf, that kicks off with the engaging “California USA.” The four tracks here show Bobby Chill and The Wave as an act to take notice of.

“California USA” and other memorable tracks from this month can also be streamed on the updating Obscure Sound’s ‘Best of April 2019’ Spotify playlist.
