Annamay is a Stockholm-based musician whose new album, F*ck You, captures a sweepingly melodic sound entranched in twangy country and yearning pop. The artist describes the release as a compilation of life’s challenges and experiences, noting influences as varied as Pink, Tom Petty, and Amy MacDonald. Nicely indicative of her sound is the track “Torn Between Two Suns,” where mellow acoustics and barnyard-set strings accompany a steady vocal melody. Another highlight is “One Step Behind,” which touts a multi-layered vocal presence and generally more chipper feeling compared to “Torn Between Two Suns.” Both these tracks are great places to start with this release, which can be streamed in full on Spotify here.
Annamay has the following to say about her recent releases and path as a musician thus far:
“My biggest music achievement is my first 3 singles, my debut album that’s just out now, and managing making them and at the same time working as an engineer on an expert level in infrastructure and during this time bringing my lovely child to this earth. I’m proud of being a driven woman, in a man’s world, with all that comes with it. Not saying it’s been easy, but I’m never given up, nor should you, don’t matter where you’re from or who you are. We are all the same but unique and it’s time to really cherish one another.”
