Ay Wing x Shuko – “Drive By”

/

The very catchy “Drive By” is the latest release from Ay Wing, the project of a Swiss singer/songwriter based in Berlin and London. Her vein of pop songwriting emphasizes big hooks and approachable song lengths, with a love for retro synths and ’60s sounds.

“Drive By” was made in collaboration with hip-hop producer Shuko, who ensures a shimmering feel perfect for springtime. The track flutters with funky guitar licks and soaring vocals, with an ideally infectious synth touch during the “bang, bang,” vocal hook playing especially well. The music video was shot during Ay Wing’s U.S. tour in March, with filmmaker Steve Glashier capturing the artist’s “frivolous, happy joyous mood she was in while exploring Venice Beach in L.A.” The beach town provides the perfect setting to this fun, sparkling pop effort.

“Drive By” and other memorable tracks from this month can also be streamed on the updating Obscure Sound’s ‘Best of May 2019’ Spotify playlist.

The track is also featured in the genre-based, best-of Spotify compilation Catchy Indie Pop.
