Premiere: Burly Herd – “Betamax”

/

London quartet Burly Herd kicks off a series of upcoming releases with the excellent track “Betamax.” Fluid, dreamy guitar tones establish an entrancing soundscape, as lush synths and bass assume prominence when the guitars fade. The “talk to me and let me know,” hook touts a striking vocal presence that reminds fondly of Wild Beasts’ Hayden Thorpe. This vocal escalation hook is something I anticipate upon each replay, with equal enjoyment coming from the enjoyable dreaminess of the verses. “Betamax” is an excellent track we’re happy to premiere. Look for more from Burly Herd throughout the year.

“Betamax” and other memorable tracks from this month can also be streamed on the updating Obscure Sound’s ‘Best of May 2019’ Spotify playlist.

The track is also featured in the very selective Spotify compilation Best Tracks of 2019.
