Champ Major is the entrancing project of Brooklyn-based artist Madison Major, originally from Savannah, Georgia. The beautiful track “Not Slowly” is off Champ Major’s newly released EP, Recipe for Baking
Two Humans Together. Madison’s croon is haunting and ethereal, reminiscent of Marissa Nadler. Creaking ambient effects and a slow-burning, melancholic guitar line form a gripping atmosphere alongside these striking vocals. The final section sees crying string-like processions accompany the lo-fi guitar tone, after the vocals conclude. “Not Slowly” is a gripping success from Champ Major.
