L I P S – “In Summer”

/

Jangly guitars and serene, dream-pop vibes permeate throughout “In Summer,” an enjoyable new track from the band L I P S, based in Falmouth, Cornwall, UK. Rachel Anstis’ glistening vocals are complemented nicely by a variety of guitar tones, ranging from suave jangle-pop fixings to hypnotic, elongated sequences more typical of dream-pop. Tonally, the vocals sit somewhere between Jenny Lewis’ soaring qualities and Courtney Barnett’s rock-forward charisma. Following up the tracks “Apartment” and “Walls,” “In Summer” provides a slice of soaring, summer-y melodic magic that infuses shimmering pop vocal hooks within an engrossing rock arsenal.

“In Summer” and other memorable tracks from this month can also be streamed on the updating Obscure Sound’s ‘Best of June 2019’ Spotify playlist.

The track is also featured in the genre-based, best-of Spotify compilation Lush, Suave/Slacker, + Jangle-Rock.
