Premiere: Dot.s – “Remaining Years (Yellow Mess)”

/

I loved Dot.s’ previous track, the infectious “Evil Lines,” so it’s a pleasure to premiere the latest release from the Atlanta-based five-piece. Contrary to the instant excitability of “Evil Lines,” the beginning to “Remaining Years (Yellow Mess)” is a suaver, more understated slice of ’80s nostalgia. The build-up to the effervescent, nostalgic synth lead around the 50-second mark is accompanied by a hypnotic vocal repetition. By the track’s second half, there’s a more soaring, energetic quality that merges ’80s pop with contemporary psych-friendly swirling. “Remaining Years (Yellow Mess)” is another surefire winner from Dot.s. Look for the band’s third LP, Long for this World, this summer.

“Remaining Years (Yellow Mess)” and other memorable tracks from this month can also be streamed on the updating Obscure Sound’s ‘Best of June 2019’ Spotify playlist.
