Dave, Outside – “Breakfast”

/

“Breakfast” is a dreamy and gripping success from Dave, Outside — described by the artist as “a dreamsurf project.” Aesthetically reminiscent of early Grizzly Bear, “Breakfast” floats along unassumingly to start, its first burst of emotion coming at the 48-second mark (“my hands are tied”). The bass line assumes a more playful form during this section alongside the escalating vocals, adding depth to the already-constructed dreamy aesthetic. Just past the three-minute mark, the track starts a gorgeous build-up, with escalating guitar strums and percussion. A serene, twinkling conclusion arrives at precisely the four-minute mark, carrying into the conclusion for a stellar track that certainly accomplishes a dream-like state.

“Breakfast” and other memorable tracks from this month can also be streamed on the updating Obscure Sound’s ‘Best of August 2019’ Spotify playlist.
