Hazansky – “Grandma”

/

The self-titled track from Hazansky’s new EP Grandma, released today, is a smooth slice of soft-rock. Soulful backing vocal adornments, a lush wavering synth pad, and tender guitar twangs complement the suave vocal lead. The EP marks the debut release from Matveyenko, an Oregon Music Hall of Fame College Scholarship recipient. Produced in Los Angeles by Riley Geare (of Unknown Mortal Orchestra), Grandma‘s confident aesthetic succeeds in its blend of retro-soul, contemporary R&B, and pop components. The EP also features the neo-soul guitar work of Salvatore Manalo and the sweeping vocals of Andrea Thompson.

Hazansky is playing a release show tonight (8/30) at Alberta Street Pub, with support from rapper Bird Bennett.

“Grandma” and other memorable tracks from this month can also be streamed on the updating Obscure Sound’s ‘Best of August 2019’ Spotify playlist.
