Carpet City – “Little Longer”

/

Murky, gripping, and nostalgic, “Little Longer” is a consuming new track from Los Angeles-based singer/songwriter Carpet City. The initial guitar strut produces some late ’90s nostalgia for me, with echoes of Smashing Pumpkins’ “Pug.” The “it only hurts right now / just a little longer,” chorus plays beautifully over that nostalgic guitar twang, with the tortured vocal presence fitting the mood perfectly. Recorded, written, and mixed entirely by the artist, “Little Longer” does fantastic in capturing vibes that reflect a sort of lonesomeness, though also a contentedness knowing that feelings are temporary.

“It’s about how feelings are just feelings, and they will pass eventually,” the artist says. “When it seems hopeless, you just need to wait a “little longer.””

“Little Longer” and other memorable tracks from this month can also be streamed on the updating Obscure Sound’s ‘Best of September 2019’ Spotify playlist.
