Vulve Velue – “Tropical”

“Tropical” is the impressive debut single from Vulve Velue. The Toronto-based artist integrates both higher-pitched, soulful vocal emotion and more lower-toned nonchalance, the latter present during the “two steps forward,” vocal hook. Twinkling keys and catchy guitar swipes complement the sharp vocals, with evident R&B touching stones surrounding an accessible pop outline. 02:22 represents an effective transition, with an electro-soul/funk glimpse alongside slowed-down vocals that help lead into a final replay of the central hook and fluid guitars. “Tropical” is a very strong debut from an artist with ample promise.

“Tropical” and other memorable tracks from this month can also be streamed on the updating Obscure Sound’s ‘Best of September 2019’ Spotify playlist.

The track is also featured in the genre-based, best-of Spotify compilation Catchy Indie Pop.
