Aruba – “Aruba”

A fuzzy and raucously fun nod to The Beach Boys, “Aruba” is a newly released track from a band also called Aruba, based out of Calgary, AB. Chugging guitars and a caressing backing arpeggio lead to the central hook, echoing the classic Beach Boys track with a frenzied, modern feel. The “boys look a little too tough,” slowed-down section at the mid-point impresses with its added variation, steadily rising again to the fun raucousness of the initial feel. The crunchy guitars and six-strong vocal section combine at the conclusion for one last whirring bout of fun. Aruba impress with this self-titled track.

“Aruba” and other memorable tracks from this month can also be streamed on the updating Obscure Sound’s ‘Best of October 2019’ Spotify playlist.

The track is also featured in the genre-based, best-of Spotify compilation Indie Rock.
