Della Croix – “August”

/

Della Croix are a duo of friends who have been playing music together since elementary school. Troy and Ryan crafted Della Croix’s self-titled album over the past summer, when both were in their hometown of Providence, Rhode Island. Showing audible collaborative chemistry, Ryan’s fluidly melodic guitar playing pairs cohesively with Troy’s pop-forward voice and keyboard work. Evident of this is the track “August,” a pleasing and catchy success from the album. The “maybe my head is in a different place,” hook around the one-minute turn shines. The preceding verses exude a patient nonchalance, permitting this melodic turn to stand out. Ryan’s soaring guitar playing is prominent in the final minute. Effectively melodic power-pop and college-rock sentiments show on “August” and throughout this new album from Della Croix.

“August” and other memorable tracks from this month can also be streamed on the updating Obscure Sound’s ‘Best of October 2019’ Spotify playlist.
