Merry’s Funeral – “Simdi Yukseklerde”

/

The dark, haunting “Simdi Yukseklerde” is a great representation of Merry’s Funeral — specifically, the Turkish band’s consuming construction of stirring, well-developed soundscapes in the post-punk and industrial-rock veins. Hypnotic rhythms and nostalgic synth tones accompany husky, nonchalant vocals on this track and throughout the band’s new album Medusa, released by Secret Sin Records. As Merry’s Funeral’s second album, Medusa shows a band in firm control of their aesthetic. Fans of post-punk and cavernously dark soundscapes are quite likely to enjoy this release.
