“Is This Real?” shows the bright, soaring pop smarts of Mojave Nomads, an act from Ogden, Utah. A charismatic, perky vocal lead builds to a pleasantly melodic chorus — “is this real? / can you feel the electricity?” A delectable guitar solo emerges in the final minute, strutting an anthemic, fun feel — reminiscent tonally of Smith Westerns. The vocals assume a higher-pitched, airy feel that’s pop-friendly and ideal for the title-referencing chorus. I’m definitely looking forward to hearing more from Mojave Nomads.
