Carly Shea – “Lemonade”

/

“Lemonade” is the catchy debut single from Carly Shea, an NYC-based artist crafting a consuming vein of pop inspired by house and alternative soul. “Lemonade” touts suave verses with a dark atmospheric tint, with underlying strings alongside house-forward rhythms. Shea’s vocals are melodic and fully capable of swapping between a darker mysterious allure and brighter pop infectiousness. This is a catchy, well-produced debut from an artist who looks to have a big 2020 ahead.

Carly says: ““Lemonade” is my first single; it’s a somewhat upbeat track with dark vibes. Though it’s a fun track, I wrote it as an escapist song. My headspace wasn’t great — I’d spent the past few years between Mexico City, LA, and NYC recording songs, but between dealing with unsavory characters and fearing music would conflict with my job as a talent agent, I never released it. I finally got to a point where I was like, forget it, I’m writing this carefree track and releasing it. That’s what’s behind “Lemonade.””

“Lemonade” and other memorable tracks from this month can also be streamed on the updating Obscure Sound’s ‘Best of January 2020’ Spotify playlist.
