Caelin – “Your Love”

/

Austin-based artist Caelin thoroughly impresses with new track “Your Love,” casting a spell with its dreamy, soaring qualities. Hypnotic guitars and lush vocals initially exude a feel akin to Little Dragon. Just prior to one minute in, the track reveals its heartrending chorus, a display of vocal passion alongside lush acoustics and bursts of strings. In this section, I’m reminded of Weyes Blood; in general, that’s a solid point of comparison considering Caelin’s abundance of strengths. The final minute reinforces these aforementioned abilities, as the guitars, strings, and soaring vocals converge with absolute beauty.

Caelin elaborates more on the song’s background below:

This song tells the story of a broken marriage from the point of view of a child, who now, looking back at it realizes that the darkness and despair she witnessed as a child is suddenly taking over her own view of love and relationships. It’s a cry for help that begs the question, where do you go from here? When you said ‘I do’ to this love forever, did you think forever would weather the weight of these years?

“Your Love” and other memorable tracks from this month can also be streamed on the updating Obscure Sound’s ‘Best of February 2020’ Spotify playlist.
