Cherry Slide – “Does It Matter”

/

Cherry Slide is the solo project of Dale Humphries, a musician originally from the UK and now based in NYC. A 2018 self-titled album showed ample promise, with tracks like “Eyes Like a Blur” meshing warming, melodic guitar distortion with soaring vocal emotion. Aesthetically, there’s a fond likeness to Alex G, which continues on new tracks “Tomorrow” and “Does It Matter.” The latter is particularly engrossing. Shimmering acoustics and forlorn vocals bring shades of Deerhunter, as a brass-laden shimmer adds well to the mix. Distorted guitar in the final section caps this delightful track off in quality form.
