Mr Sweet – “Lazy Funk”

//

London-based act Mr Sweet shows an active, versatile sound with fond shades of Steely Dan and Supertramp. Their debut single “Lazy Funk” is a fun showcase of melodically addictive arrangements and a high level of musicianship. A synth-laden addition just prior to the one-minute mark begins a series of enjoyable verses that culminate in a blissful piano-forward section. Synths assume a similar leading role a minute thereafter. “Lazy Funk” shows an act both capable of jam-friendly spontaneity and enjoyably melodic accessibility. Mr Sweet certainly fits the initial lyrical classification of “a band with a sweet sound and a groove.”

“Lazy Funk” and other memorable tracks from this month can also be streamed on the updating Obscure Sound’s ‘Best of March 2020’ Spotify playlist.
