Premiere: VVARD – “in her shoes”

We’re happy to premiere “in her shoes,” a track from VVARD. Based out of the Netherlands, the bedroom-pop crafts dreamy engrossment throughout. Hazy, submerged beginnings lead nicely into poppy percussive additions as the one-minute mark, with vocals rising in passion shortly thereafter. The melodically satisfying build-up and catchy vocal performance reminds fondly of Mitski. Brass-laden exuberance in the conclusion adds extra satisfaction, wrapping up “in her shoes” with delightful melodic allure. “in her shoes” is a delightful track to bring into the weekend.

“As a bedroom producer, it was important to me that the song is close to home,” VVARD says. “Meaning it covers the right emotion and essence that describes how it feels to struggle with your identity and not having the right support system to fully be yourself. ‘In her shoes’ is an coming of age song. It creates a feel good sound, a road trip feel and she’s dreamy to the core.”

“in her shoes” and other memorable tracks from this month can also be streamed on the updating Obscure Sound’s ‘Best of March 2020’ Spotify playlist.

The track is also featured in the genre-based, best-of Spotify compilation Emerging Indie Pop.
