Quality Cable – “Soft Lock”

/

Quality Cable are a promising act from Louisville, KY, comprised of music students from the University of Louisville — specifically, a jazz drummer and bassist, two classical guitarists, and a composer on Keyboard. Naturally, the band incorporates an array of styles, all while emphasizing a dreamy rock fixation throughout new track “Soft Lock.” Off Quality Cable’s new EP Channel Fever, “Soft Lock” rides on relaxed guitars and mellow vocals to start. The fluid guitars and rhythm section work cohesively into a more soaring vocal ascension around the one-minute mark, exuding a weightlessly melodic feel. Repeating synth/key arps are added to this chorus later alongside a brass-y warmness, gearing toward a wholly satisfying conclusion.

“Soft Lock” and other memorable tracks from this month can also be streamed on the updating Obscure Sound’s ‘Best of March 2020’ Spotify playlist.

The track is also featured in the genre-based, best-of Spotify compilation Emerging Indie Rock.
