“Tender” is a consuming track from COOL HEAT, a Chicago-based project. A nocturnal, dreamy quality is apparent from the get-go with the lush vocals and guitar jangles. Much of the track’s second half is a textural expansion of jangly guitars, exuding a gliding, brisk emotive quality alongside minimalist percussion and faintly shimmering keys. Playing like a more contemplative Wild Nothing track, “Tender” is a surefire winner from COOL HEAT. I’m definitely looking forward to hearing more from this rising project.
