Melvin Darrell + Samryebread – “Grease Fire”

“Grease Fire” is a melodic collaboration of several Philadelphia-based artists. Melvin Darrell, Samryebread, and Kyle Sparkman accomplish a funk-tinged, pop success here. Guitars and backing vocals build on the initial rhythm-and-vocals suaveness. The two-minute mark sees a catching melodic expansion, with soaring vocals and added cohesion between the melodic bass line, gliding keys, and playful percussion. The bass line becomes particularly fun as the vocals fade. “Grease Fire” is an accessible, replay-inducing effort from these Philly-based talents.

“Grease Fire” and other memorable tracks from this month can also be streamed on the updating Obscure Sound’s ‘Best of April 2020’ Spotify playlist.
