Mira Pardelha – “Entre o Céu e o Chão”

/

Mira Pardelha recently released their debut album About Land, showing a hypnotic, hauntingly melodic melding of rock and folk elements with enjoyable contrasting vocal tones and engaging songwriting developments. Nicely evident of this is album cut “Entre o Céu e o Chão.” Vocals on this track range from nearing spoken-word to a melodic duet, adorned by psych-friendly guitar twangs, playful keys, and a stirring string-laden undercurrent. Strings also play a lovely role on the dreamy “Dust Is a Cloudless Sky,” another highlight on an album full of many. About Land shows a striking, dramatic sound that — per the band — aims to blend “Portuguese and Brazilian music and folklore, 80’s Anglo-American gothic, 90’s post rock and 60’s girl groups.” I’ll definitely be following this project from Lisbon, Portugal.
