bone blanket – “I Miss Your Rock ‘n Roll”

/

A cut from bone blanket‘s new album All The Hell I Can Get, “I Miss Your Rock ‘n Roll” is a consuming success. The track exemplifies the striking songwriting of Jeff Pupa, who formed the project in 2008. What starts as a fairly inconspicuous chugging rocker evolves into an ever-changing array of successful turns; the soaring twang around 03:30 is one notable example, traversing into psych-rock deepness upon the resonating vocal section.

Another highlight from the album is “Pain Has No Inertia,” which enjoyably sounds as if R.E.M. embraced a twangier, retrospective tone. A soaring, melodic chorus nicely contrasts with grittier, escalating verses. Both these tracks show very evidently why All The Hell I Can Get is an album to check out.

bone blanket writes and records from his home studio in Somerville, NJ.

“I Miss Your Rock ‘n Roll” and other memorable tracks from this month can also be streamed on the updating Obscure Sound’s ‘Best of July 2020’ Spotify playlist.

The track is also featured in the genre-based, best-of Spotify compilation Emerging Indie Rock.
