Florence Rose – “Open Your Eyes”

A shimmering, upbeat pop success fit for easing into the weekend, “Open Your Eyes” is a delight from Florence Rose. The Tulsa, OK-based band write that “Open Your Eyes” is “meant to be played loud, driving down the highway with your friends.” The anthemic qualities throughout make it easy to hear why. Island-bound guitar shards find themselves quickly accompanied by playful percussion and a melodic “open your eyes,” refrain. The vibe continues enjoyably throughout, with percussion occasionally distancing in favor of guitar shimmers (and a lush synth-laden bridge around 01:30). “Open Your Eyes” is certainly the type of track that gets stuck in your head while you’re driving to the beach, lake, forest, or whatever your getaway of choice is.

“Open Your Eyes” and other memorable tracks from this month can also be streamed on the updating Obscure Sound’s ‘Best of July 2020’ Spotify playlist.

The track is also featured in the genre-based, best-of Spotify compilation Emerging Indie Pop.
