“Cleared” is a hypnotic, psychedelic folk track from new artist Jerry. Serene acoustics open with spaciousness, subsiding a bit upon the soaring, elongated vocal presence that follows. The psych-friendly, otherworldly feeling conveyed — with natural folk-spirited intentions — reminds me fondly of the act Sun City Girls. I’m also reminded of Damien Jurado, in regard to the lingering backing textures prominent 01:22 -> 01:30 especially. The vocals feel more up-front around 02:15, enjoyably, and help guide into a satisfying conclusion. “Cleared” shows a stirring aesthetic and successfully hypnotic melodic allure.
