Morisse Monty – “Be Me”

/

“Be Me” shows a sweeping, consuming production — elevated in the second half by majestic strings and haunting vocal accompaniments. This follows a lush, dreamy first half with a succeeding nocturnal synth/guitar interplay. The track comes via Morisse Monty, the solo moniker of Antwerp (Belgium)-based producer and mixing engineer Jussi De Nys. As the first single from Morisse Monty’s upcoming EP, the encouraging lyrics and dreamy/symphonic elements throughout “Be Me” lead an extremely memorable aesthetic. I’m fondly reminded of the act Black Box Recorder.

“This song is about picking yourself back up! To be there for your loved ones you first need to be there for yourself,” Jussi says. “This song helped me and Anouk, who sings on this track too, get through a tough time. I hope it can lift the spirit of others too!”

“Be Me” and other memorable tracks from this month can also be streamed on the updating Obscure Sound’s ‘Best of July 2020’ Spotify playlist.

The track is also featured in the genre-based, best-of Spotify compilation Emerging Dream-Pop.
