Caved Mountains – “Soft White Lights”

//

Suave rocker “Soft White Lights” is a quality showing from Dallas-based band Caved Mountains. Following up 2018 EP A Slow Decline, “Soft White Lights” exudes a retrospective rock vibe fondly reminiscent of Pavement’s “Range Life.” Certain moments, like the guitar entry at the one-minute mark and “it’s all wrong,” vocal push at 02:05, stand out notably. As a whole, “Soft White Lights” shows an alt-rock sound that’s comfortingly familiar without being too repetitious, especially upon the thunderously delightful bridge at 02:40.

The band writes: “The song is about a man being chased by death. The video is inspired by the juxtaposition of fun laughter and creepiness. Think Tim and Eric meets David Lynch. I hope you enjoy the experience!”

“Soft White Lights” and other memorable tracks from this month can also be streamed on the updating Obscure Sound’s ‘Best of August 2020’ Spotify playlist.
