Lara Taubman – “Desert Boy”

/

Revelation is the new album from New York-based folk musician Lara Taubman. Recorded in Wolfe Island, Canada with Wolfe Island Records founder and producer Hugh Christopher Brow, Revelation shows Taubman’s heartfelt songwriting, which will appeal to fans of Joni Mitchell, Gillian Welch, and Carole King. Nicely evident of Taubman’s yearning, timeless sound is the track “Desert Boy.” Guided by trickling piano and gospel-inspired vocal layers, with organ-based warmness, the track stands out for its stirring aesthetic and consuming lyrical prowess.

““Revelation” is about my journey to heal through making music,” Taubman says. “Following a call to begin singing five years ago led me to a series of fortuitous events that created this album. Music always saved me, now I hope to return the favor.”

Similar goodness is apparent throughout Revelation, streaming below:

“Desert Boy” and other memorable tracks from July can also be streamed on the updating Obscure Sound’s ‘Best of July 2020’ Spotify playlist.

The track is also featured in the genre-based, best-of Spotify compilation Emerging Indie Folk.
