“Bad For You” is the latest single from Xelli Island, the dream-pop project of Lianna Vanicelli. Impressing with “02 20 20” last month, Xelli Island again shows an effervescent, bouncy vein of hooky pop led by dreamy vocals and serene key-forward charm. “I got it,” is repeated throughout the track’s ethereal verses, appealing with melodic charm. “Don’t make this hard,” Vanicelli croons over buzzing, more ominous synths past the mid-point, providing a memorable point of diversification. The second single from Xelli Island’s debut EP, out this October, “Bad For You” is accessible and catchy while still showing fun structural twists and turns.
