Xelli Island – “Bad For You”

“Bad For You” is the latest single from Xelli Island, the dream-pop project of Lianna Vanicelli. Impressing with “02 20 20” last month, Xelli Island again shows an effervescent, bouncy vein of hooky pop led by dreamy vocals and serene key-forward charm. “I got it,” is repeated throughout the track’s ethereal verses, appealing with melodic charm. “Don’t make this hard,” Vanicelli croons over buzzing, more ominous synths past the mid-point, providing a memorable point of diversification. The second single from Xelli Island’s debut EP, out this October, “Bad For You” is accessible and catchy while still showing fun structural twists and turns.

“Bad For You” and other memorable tracks from this month can also be streamed on the updating Obscure Sound’s ‘Best of September 2020’ Spotify playlist.
