Glistener – “Night Nearing”

A spacey pop track with hooky, psych-friendly melodic appeal, “Night Nearing” is a firm success from Glistener. The Portland (OR)-based project comprises musicians from various artists: Aan, Cardioid, Grace Mitchell, Night Heron, and Pegasus Dream. Hypnotic though quick-cutting synths accompany a hazy vocal lead to start, with “Night Nearing” as a whole successfully merging spacey art-pop with hypnotic psych-pop. Vocals fade after 01:30 as an atmospheric bridge, set for a sci-fi film, impresses. An addictive melody and charming overall soundscape provide continuous enjoyment throughout “Night Nearing.”

“Night Nearing” and other memorable tracks from this month can also be streamed on the updating Obscure Sound’s ‘Best of October 2020’ Spotify playlist.

The track is also featured in the genre-based, best-of Spotify compilation Emerging Indie Pop.
