Vast Caldera – “Adamant”

/

Sweeping strings, haunting guitars, and brassy adornments are among the forces flowing throughout “Adamant,” a track from Vast Caldera, the project of Justin Weiss. From the NYC artist’s Vast Caldera 1 EP, “Adamant” provides some ideal Halloween-time listening — especially when the scorching guitars and strings converge for an eerily consuming feel as the two-minute mark approaches. The guitars assume a sludgy feeling toward the conclusion, then leading into the peppier and funk-tinged “Glory.” The EP consumes thereafter with a sound impressive on atmospheric and melodic fronts.

“Every track should be a journey that takes you to the horizon and back,” Weiss says of the Vast Caldera 1 EP. “The goal from day one was to capture the type of guitar riffs that I loved from the 70s and 80s and infuse it with the modern soundscape of electronic music.”

“Adamant” and other memorable tracks from September can also be streamed on the updating Obscure Sound’s ‘Best of September 2020’ Spotify playlist.
