Deja Blu – “Barrier”

/

“Barrier” provides murky, mysterious entrancement; the track is the latest from Deja Blu, an act from Surrey (UK). Cavernous vocals and twinkling distant keys engage throughout the intro. Haunting, ghostly textures — with ethereal vocals and fleeting nocturnal tones — engross further in the second half. An icy atmosphere is fully apparent approaching the two-minute mark — “I can hear the voices,” the ghostly vocals croon amidst rumbling bass and spacey synths. The percussive approach touts a trip-hop hypnotism, working seamlessly amidst the nocturnal production effects. Haunting and gripping throughout, “Barrier” is a consuming effort from Deja Blu.

“Barrier” and other memorable tracks from this month can also be streamed on the updating Obscure Sound’s ‘Best of November 2020’ Spotify playlist.

The track is also featured in the genre-based, best-of Spotify compilation Emerging Dream-Pop.
