Invisible Ensemble – “Danse Macabre”

//

Touting a nostalgic new-wave sound fondly reminiscent of The Psychedelic Furs, “Danse Macabre” is a stellar track from Invisible Ensemble. Originally from Glasgow, Scotland, the artist now operates from a home studio near Canberra, Australia. “Danse Macabre” touts riveting vocals, creeping guitar tones, and a melodic synth adornments — crafting a sound fitting for chilling, autumnal nights and those seeking consuming new-wave nostalgia. “Danse danse, oh danse Macabre,” the chorus lets out, references to skeletons included. The reflective, scaled-back bridge around 02:45, heavy on vintage synth tones, recalls Ryuichi Sakamoto new-wave collaborations. “Danse Macabre” is a thorough melodic and aesthetic success from Invisible Ensemble.

“Danse Macabre” and other memorable tracks from this month can also be streamed on the updating Obscure Sound’s ‘Best of November 2020’ Soundcloud playlist.
