Malone the Chemist – “Malonetime”

Blending hip-hop components of the past and present, “Malonetime” is a gripping single from Malone the Chemist. The Mississauga-based artist builds off a dreamy piano-based pulsation, swelling from minimalist charm to expansive atmosphere. The one-minute mark sees atmospheric brass and deeply-pitched vocals build climatically to a consuming hook with hypnotic appeal. The trippy repeating vocals, guitar twangs, and heavy psych bass converge with replay-inducing enjoyment. “Malonetime” is a great showing from Malone the Chemist.

“Malonetime” and other memorable tracks from this month can also be streamed on the updating Obscure Sound’s ‘Best of November 2020’ Spotify playlist.

The track is also featured in the genre-based, best-of Spotify compilation Emerging Hip-Hop.
