Hypnagogic Garden – “Mysterium Cosmographicum”

Courtesy of Brooklyn-based act Hypnagogic Garden, “Mysterium Cosmographicum” touts a creative pop sound with fun hooks throughout. The strings at 01:20 generate a sort of warm nostalgia (reminding me, at least, of Mario Kart 64). “Mr. Moon, I’m looking at you,” the vocals start during a briskly contagious section thereafter, where swift string usage and responsive backing vocals converge for a wholly memorable hook. Spacey synths close the track out with a mysterious glow. “Mysterium Cosmographicum” is an inventive delight from Hypnagogic Garden.

“Mysterium Cosmographicum” and other memorable tracks from this month can also be streamed on the updating Obscure Sound’s ‘Best of December 2020’ Spotify playlist.
