LocalBlac – “We Outside!”

A showcase of LocalBlac‘s intensely captivating flow, “We Outside!” comes from the artist’s excellent new album, Inside Voices Please!. The Los Angeles-based artist first caught my ear in 2017 with the track “HOV,” reminding me of Kendrick’s Section.80 in terms of mood. A few years later, Inside Voices Please! fulfills that potential, presenting a sound heavy on captivating flows and unique production, ranging from the piano-laden playfulness of “Sideshow Bob!” to the murky late-night haunts of “Inside Job!,” which touts excellent backing infusion that sends chills.

Another album highlight, “Smoking Gun!” rides on a mysterious beat with eerie key-laden resonance. Thrash Torn adds excellently, with verses fondly reminiscent of Outkast. This track and “We Outside!” are thoroughly impressive showcases of LocalBlac’s abilities — namely, a captivating and focused flow that aligns melodically with uniquely captivating beats.

“We Outside!”” and other memorable tracks from this month can also be streamed on the updating Obscure Sound’s ‘Best of November 2020’ Spotify playlist.

The track is also featured in the genre-based, best-of Spotify compilation Emerging Indie Hip-Hop.
