Amateur Painter – “Love Letter to My Phone”

/

A recent track from Amateur Painter, “Love Letter to My Phone” balances moody production with a hooky melodic pull. The Canadian producer, singer, and songwriter impresses throughout. Rising vocals accompany murky bass gyrations as a prancing synth-laden arpeggio lingers in the background. The central hook — “but you always come through, when I need you to,” — shows expressive vocal range, heightening pitch and emotion amidst the lyrical refrain. A more emphasized backing arpeggio converges beautifully with the invigorated vocal. “Love Letter to My Phone” showcases a uniquely effective sound while remaining true to its hook-minded heart.

“Love Letter to My Phone” and other memorable tracks from this month can also be streamed on the updating Obscure Sound’s ‘Best of January 2021’ Spotify playlist.

The track is also featured in the genre-based, best-of Spotify compilation Emerging Indie Pop.
