Astropark – “Come Round”

/

“Come Round” is a slice of ’80s pop nostalgia from Astropark, the duo of David Santos and Mike Baber. They met at USC Film School, forming the band There Goes Bill and playing the local Los Angeles club scene throughout the ’90s. Starting to write together again in 20212, Santos and Baber released an album in 2014 under the name Transella. Astropark represents the duo’s third project together.

Lovely sophisti-pop vibes are apparent in the verses, reminding fondly of Prefab Sprout. The dose of synths at the two-minute mark adds a playful, melodic component amidst the soaring vocal emotion shortly thereafter. “Come Round” packs a consuming, emotive punch with sophisti-pop ’80s nostalgia — full of melody and lushly engaging production.

“Come Round” is the first single from Astropark’s upcoming album The Art Of Being Alone.

“Come Round” and other memorable tracks from this month can also be streamed on the updating Obscure Sound’s ‘Best of January 2021’ Spotify playlist.

The track is also featured in the genre-based, best-of Spotify compilation Sophisti-Pop.
