Expert Lovers – “Tantrum”

“Tantrum” is an invigorating rocker from Expert Lovers, comprised of members from NYC and Los Angeles. The track touts a number of catching twists and turns. A contemplative alt-rock sound appears at first, with fluid guitar work transitioning swiftly into a fierce, distortion-heavy onslaught. The first minute alone shows a fun, eclectic pull — solidified even further by the synth-laden “get down,” hook around 01:30. “I really feel it now,” singer/guitarist Evan Bakker lets out thereafter, with riveting guitar tones reminding fondly of Queens of the Stone Age. “Just follow me into the garden,” he sings amidst a lusher, acoustic-tinged display, then turning into a satisfying, rock-forward conclusion. “Tantrum” captivates with an ever-changing, melodic rock sound throughout.

“Tantrum” and other memorable tracks from this month can also be streamed on the updating Obscure Sound’s ‘Best of January 2021’ Spotify playlist.
