Josie Lockhart – “One Second to Midnight”

//

With a hook lovably reminiscent of The Cure’s peppier efforts, “One Second to Midnight” is new track from Josie Lockhart. The second single from the Austin-based artist, following “Like Lightning,” “One Second to Midnight” quickly achieves accessible charm and a hooky melodic pull. Guitars project an ’80s flair amidst shimmering keys in the background, giving way to a suavely delectable vocal lead. “Maybe I got it wrong,” Lockhart sings during the lovely bridge, gearing up to an infectious chorus. The track maintains a steady, consistent pace throughout — easily becoming stuck in my head and enticing replays.

“One Second to Midnight” and other memorable tracks from this month can also be streamed on the updating Obscure Sound’s ‘Best of January 2021’ Spotify playlist.

The track is also featured in the genre-based, best-of Spotify compilation Emerging Indie Pop.
