Magnetic Ghost – “The Long Winter”

/

“The Long Winter” is a consuming new track from Magnetic Ghost. The Minneapolis-based artist shows a hypnotic, melodic rock sound that wraps listeners in a warm blanket of hazy vocal melodies and textural guitars. Impressing previously with tracks like “Thrall” and “Delete,” “The Long Winter” builds on those track’s strengths, namely a knack for gently unfolding guitar-driven tones and yearning vocals that intermingle with satiating melodic appeal. Andrew Larson’s songwriting especially shines as the vocals ascend in emotion past the 01:30 mark, concocting a psych-friendly soundscape that leads seamlessly back into textural rock familiarity. “The Long Winter” consumes throughout.

“The Long Winter” and other memorable tracks from this month can also be streamed on the updating Obscure Sound’s ‘Best of January 2021’ Spotify playlist.
