Richard Berger – “Don’t”

/

A moody, soulful effort aesthetically reminiscent of Toro y Moi, “Don’t” is a recent track from Richard Berger. Noting that “Don’t” is “a song about calling out the lack of real communication in a relationship,” Berger shows an emotive, atmospheric sound with engrossing retrospection. Spacey synths and a funk-infused bass line build to the professional chorus, punctuated beautifully in the final minute by additional, lovely synth adornments. “I’m not so sure,” Berger sings, effectively conveying a feeling of sitting at the crossroads. “Don’t” succeeds with relatable lyrical emotion and gratifying atmospheric production.

The track comes via Berger’s new album, Where Did It Go.

“Don’t” and other memorable tracks from this month can also be streamed on the updating Obscure Sound’s ‘Best of January 2021’ Spotify playlist.
