brushstroke – “Lucid”

/

First catching my ear in October with “Freeze,” Philly-based artist brushstroke impresses again, this time with “Lucid.” Showing a sound steeped in soul and R&B influence, with a hypnotic psych-rock appeal, the track stylishly expands from quaint flickers into a bustling, confident assortment of guitar twangs and glistening synths. Suave vocals emerge with a lushly engaging backing, amping up the momentum as the two-minute mark approaches and a bass-driven push appears. Heightened rhythmic involvement meshes enjoyably with spacey synths in the final minute for a fully satisfying conclusion.

“Lucid” and other memorable tracks from this month can also be streamed on the updating Obscure Sound’s ‘Best of March 2021’ Spotify playlist.
