Michael Baker – “Caught in the Crossfire”

A track from Michael Baker‘s new album How Come You Sleep, “Caught in the Crossfire” impresses with its ardent vocals and guitar/piano interplay. Acoustical lushness and prancing piano accompany Baker’s serene vocal presence. The second half features a backing symphonic shimmer, playing especially well as Baker says “I’m just caught in a crossfire.” Serene guitar trickles and soothing vocal catharsis culminate beautifully during this section. The Anglo-French singer/songwriter impresses on this track and throughout How Come You Sleep.

“Caught in the Crossfire” and other memorable tracks from this month can also be streamed on the updating Obscure Sound’s ‘Best of February 2021’ Spotify playlist.

The track is also featured in the genre-based, best-of Spotify compilation Emerging Indie Folk.
