Millionyoung – “Free”

“Free” is a catching new track from Millionyoung, touting an atmospheric and yearning synth-forward pop sound. Lush vocals and nocturnal synths usher in quaintly, with bouncy additional synths emerging as the vocals ascend emotively. This twinkling, hooky success comes from the upcoming EP, Moments. Millionyoung, the project of Miami native Mike Diaz, wrote and produced the track in his bedroom studio, releasing digitally and on cassette (via Diaz’ own cassette-centric label, Pet Tapes). Inspirations include R&B and Miami Bass, in addition to the smoothly melodic components of chillwave and vaporwave. “And you feel so free,” Diaz repeats as the track comes to a satisfying close, enticing replays with its addictive melodic pull.

“Free” and other memorable tracks from this month can also be streamed on the updating Obscure Sound’s ‘Best of February 2021’ Spotify playlist.

The track is also featured in the genre-based, best-of Spotify compilation Emerging Electro-Pop.
